About Jill

Jill Nussinow, MS, RD aka The Veggie Queen

I wear many hats but they’re all related to great food that includes vegetables and other dishes rooted in foods from the earth. I’m a vegetable and plant-based (also called plant-strong) cooking expert, which includes vegetarian, vegan,  raw and gluten-free eating.

Don’t worry about me turning you into a vegetarian; you have to do that on your own time. I just want to help you get more vegetables and plant foods into your diet, no matter what other foods you choose to eat.  Eating this way can help you have a healthy and productive life.

If you want to read more about what I do, look at The Veggie Queen website.

Pressure Cooking Expert

I’ve been teaching plant-based cooking at Santa Rosa Junior College in California for more than  20 years. I teach at other cooking schools throughout the U.S. and do cooking demonstrations at farmer’s markets and other events. My goal is to create vegetable enthusiasm wherever I go.

I am a Pressure Cooking expert—featured in Pressure Cooking: A Fresh Look, Delicious Dishes in Minutes, a 75 minute DVD featuring 14 plant-based recipes from breakfast through dessert. Most of them are also gluten-free.

I am the author of The New Fast Food: The Veggie Queen Pressure Cooks Whole Food Meals in Less than 30 Minutes cookbook and The Veggie Queen:  Vegetables Get the Royal Treatment cookbook, which features seasonal vegetables throughout the year plus a chapter on pressure cooking.

I am passionate about pressure cooking since it truly changed my cooking life. I use my pressure cooker almost every day and honestly I have to attribute some of my good health to using it. I can make great tasting food really quickly. Of course, I still have to shop for the best-tasting ingredients such as vegetables and other produce. Turning fresh ingredients and pantry staples into a meal is far easier for me than jumping in the car and purchasing processed food which I avoid when possible.

As if I didn’t have enough to do, I truly enjoy new projects and exploring creative ways to bring vegetables and plant-based information to people. In addition to everything listed above I can design a private cooking class for you or your group. I am also available to be a spokesperson and represent your products or organization at events. If you are interested in finding out more about what I can do for you please contact me.

I am not at all sure about cooking ham as I only cook plant-based foods in the pressure cooker.
